Took the kiddos to see Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Can’t say I’ve ever liked the Shrek movies (my kids love them) but I like the Puss in Boots character. It was a cute movie. Two big thumbs up from Timmy and Ashley.

Our Friday family movie was Spirited starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. It’s a musical retelling of A Christmas Carol with songs by Pasek and Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman). The boys checked out quite early into the movie…weren’t feeling it. Timmy is taller than me now. I keep thinking my little boy is slowly disappearing but then he says cute things seriously like…”Ebenezer Scrooge is a ripoff of Scrooge McDuck” and I realize he’s still my little boy in some ways.

My disdain for Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” song is so well-known, a friend played the ultimate prank on me. Now I have that annoying song stuck in my head. Well played, “secret admirer.”

Drove to Beverly Hills today to catch a matinee of Invincible the Musical, a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet with Pat Benatar songs. The show played its closing performance this evening. Josh is getting sad because he’s winding down BoJack Horseman. He’s on the final season now. He was thrilled to see a Radiohead reference when BoJack listed the worst things he’s ever done.
